I get to fly down to Southern California today and then to the east coast for the rest of the week and I'm soooo excited! It won't exactly be huge swimming pools like this one I posted, especially since it's probably a little too cold for that, but it will be shenanigans guaranteed.

Tacori Jewelry Event at Bloomingdales!

Excuse the photo quality, I had to settle for iphone pictures because I was too excited to wait for anything else--I have so much to tell you guys about today and the event that happened at Bloomingales with Lucky Magazine and Tacori jewelry! We had such an amazing and fun-filled day (I HAD to include that picture of Natalie and I messing around with a new IPad app that lets you pose with tv characters?) day and I got to meet Mara of M Loves M, Beth of B. Jones Style, Natalie from Natalie off Duty, and Neekoh of LiveLoveLa. All of the girls were so so amazing to work with and we had a lot of fun playing dressup all day. It's always fun meeting people in real life who you've admired for so long!
Also, I got a Twitter, so follow me here! I know I'm a million years late but better late than never, right? Also, for those of you who don't already, follow me on facebook here! I'm hoping to expand my networks by being a lot more active on other social media sites so I would love your guys' support!

the simple life

Editorials like these make me crave simplicity--the fall colors, the layers, the basic throw-it-on pieces are all super evocative of what I'm into right now. Probably because my life hasn't been so hectic in a while--I've been moving and have been completely without internet, although my biceps are getting toned from lifting couches and tvs, so I guess that's a plus? Either way, I'm looking forward to the cool weather and outfits like this.

Posted this on my tumblr already so my apologies to those of you who have seen this already buuuuuttt--I met Sasha Pivovarova in front of the Colosseum yesterday! It was completely random and she was just walking by but I had to get a picture. Excuse my general disheveled-ness, I had been walking around Rome in the heat for about 7 hours at this point. I opened the forum up to you guys a little over a week ago, and did a q&a post. I just got home from class and I'm eating hummus and pita chips, and I thought it might be a good time to answer your questions, starting with a request for a photo of me:

1.How'd you come up with the blogname Pepper and Chips?
It's kind of a funny story actually, it was inspired by this video--watch it all the way through and I'm sure you'll figure it out. I was a freshman in college when I made the blog and obsessed with that video at the time...

2. What do you study/what are you hoping to have as a career once you've graduated??
I'm a World Lit major and I'm working on a Film minor, but I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it--hopefully something in fashion. The only concrete plan is to go to FIDM in LA after I graduate from UCSC.

3. Ideal vacation?
Hm. There's a few places I'd really love to go--Cuba, Argentina, Greece, Bavaria in Germany, and back to Jamaica.

4.Girl crush?
Signe Siemsen always and forever. Abbey Lee. Lulu Chang.

5. Make up routine?
Haha! I really don't have one. Burt's Bees chapstick and nothing else 5 days a week, on weekends add some Maybelline mascara and black liner and that's about the extent of it. I've never really been a makeup girl.

6. Favorite item of clothing you own?
This is a really hard question and I'm probably biased because I just bought them--but probably my black high waisted shorts that I just picked up. I foresee having a great relationship with them this summer.

7. Favorite shoes you own?
My mustard yellow Robert Clergeries. They're not my most comfortble, but they're definitely my most prized.


8. Item of clothing you want to own?
Not technically clothing, but the Celine Boston bag in black. I would wear it till I die!

9. Shoes you want to own?
Prada platform sneakers! AHH! What do I have to do to get my hands on a pair!?

10.Favorite designers?
Phoebe Philo, Alber Elbaz, Miuccia Prada, Hannah MacGibbon for Chloe.

11. Do you watch stuff on youtube?
Haha yes, but I never discover things on youtube--people have to show them to me and I'm usually a little out of the loop on current viral vids.

12. Do you prefer tumblr or blogspot?
I was just having this conversation with Jenna! Now that I've actually become active on tumblr I've definitely picked up on the difference between the two, but I don't think I can pick one over the other. Tumblr is all about sharing images and reblogging, so I embrace that when I use my tumblr. On blogspot, I try to post more original content or stuff that I don't see around a lot of other blogs, and I only update my blogspot once or twice a day. They're both just different mediums, and I like em both.
Why did you decide to start this blog?

13. Tell us more about your city.
I live in Santa Cruz California. It's great because it's on the coast so we have the beach but theres also a huge forest and places to hike and bike and walk, all things that I love to do. Shopping isn't great here, but San Francisco is only like an hour and a half away!

14. Why did you start blogging?
I liked what I had seen on other blogs and after trying blogging once and having it kind of peter out, I started Pepper and Chips one day in my dorm room just because I figured I saved enough pictures already as it was, so I might as well share them.

spring cleaning

I figure it was time to do a little spring cleaning and purge my closet a little bit, so here's a heads up! SInce it has become such a big thing lately, I thought I'd post my outfit (laid out on my bed) from today. I wore this plus a white t-shirt...sweater, belt and ring are vintage, shorts from urban outfitters, and converse high tops. I'm reading Coetzee's Disgrace for a South African Literature class, and bags and bags or tangerines!

I love the idea and decided to give it a shot myself (first photo is me). It definitely feels a little weird at first but I honestly felt really good all day. I've discovered a new favorite thing.

To anyone who is interested/anyone who is a size 8, I'm selling my Swedish Hasbeens on ebay HERE! They're brand new, I was just sent the wrong color and the price of returning them is 50 bucks because Sweden is so far away. So I figured I would pass them on to one of you!

outfitted

Soo, here's me + what I wear to school + new shoes (!). These Dr. Martens showed up in the mail this morning and I had to wear them. They're my first pair and the leather obviously needs to be worn in, so I'm walking around my apartment in them flexing my toes haha. The shirt is second hand, the hoodie AA, and the jeans from Urban. Sorry for the photobooth pictures and the mess, that's kinda all I got when it comes to outfit posts for now.

Meet my new shoes. They showed up at my front door today and it was the perfect way to start the day. I got them from Etsy after browsing aimlessly and I think I got really lucky. I'm in love!
Oh, and I thought this might be a good day to show you my real Valentine:

black and white and color

I don't usually do posts that are completelyyy non-fashion related, but I really wanted to post these pictures I took of the pink lilies my boyfriend got for me. Lilies are my favorite flower and I've never had pink ones before and I love them. (Love you, boyfriend). Anyway, the blog has been a little hectic lately as a reflection of my life--I got some weird sickness that I don't know what it is but I'm not exactly the picture of health, and have been dealing with school and the rest of life on top of it. So sorry if you've noticed! Hopefully these flowers brighten your day like they brightened mine.

kinda like a new baby

As I was putting this post together I was trying to remember if I had mentioned the new shoes I got to start the year off right...if not, here they are! For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, you probably know by now that for the past couple of seasons I've been reallllly liking the pointy toe again...I was very anti for a long time but I guess the tides are changing. They're black suede Prada pumps with silver rivets/studs/not really sure what to call them. I'm in love.
