I don't usually do this, but I figured I'd do a little mini-review/recommendation of the movie I just watched with my mom, Martha Marcy May Marlene. Starring the SERIOUSLY gorgeous and amazingly talented Elizabeth Olsen, the movie tells the story of a girl who escapes from a cult and deals with the aftermath (in so many words). It's one of the most memorable, jarring, kind of disturbing but completely enthralling films that I've seen in a loooong time. On top of that, it's gorgeous to look at--the simple white clothes on the cult members, the setting in upstate New York and Connecticut, and of course the leading lady. I highly recommend.

  3. I saw this movie a few wks ago and I completely agree with you. There are very few films that leave me disturbed and visibly shaking afterwards... this was one of them. I can't say that these types of films are my favorites to watch but being so moved by a film is rare. I highly recommend it - one of the best films of 2011.
